Fire Safety in the workplace is vitally important in keeping your employees safe and also for building protection too.
FACT: Arson and faulty equipment make up a huge percentage of workplace fires in the UK.
As well as daily and weekly checks, carrying out monthly fire safety checks will also ensure you are monitoring the fire safety control measures.
Some fire safety control measures should be checked on a daily basis, such as a fire door to ensure it opens sufficiently. The monthly check on a fire door would be more in depth such as checking the intumescent seal is still intact for example.
Fire Safety checks to carry out on a monthly basis include:
Escape signage
Emergency lighting
Fire Extinguishers
Fire Doors
Of course, if you notice any faults or damage at any time, these must be reported straight away- don’t wait until the weekly or monthly checks are next completed.
