So, here’s an opportunity for us to celebrate Rupert, Ensure Safety & Training’s very own VIP (Very Important Pet).
It’s almost 12 years ago since The Dogs Trust at Shrewsbury felt Rupes would be a good match for us.
Having been picked up as a stray in Ireland, initially he was jumpy and nervous. We got to learn and understand his quirky little ways and over time he settled and grew in confidence.
Celebrating his 13th birthday shortly (The Dogs Trust estimated he was approx. 12 months old when we got him), Rupes is slowing down a bit now. No longer does he chase sea gulls along the beach and swim beside us, although he still does enjoy a paddle. No longer can he “walk forever”, but he does enjoy heading out for long sniffs, and shorter strolls, in his new “Charriot”!
As he gets older, he’s getting a little bit cheekier and headstrong, at times. He’s enjoying slower days and longer naps. But, as he gets older, we appreciate him more and more, he really has been the most wonderful addition to our family.
