The Annual Shin Kicking Contest has taken place as part of the ‘Cotswold Olimpicks’ for years. This unusual tradition consists of two men stuffing straw down their trouser legs before kicking each other in the shins, for viewers’ enjoyment.

‘Metro’ reported that year on year, concerns for the welfare of contestants and increasing awareness of health and safety basics have meant that spectator numbers have dwindled and so unfortunately this year, the ‘Olimpicks’ have been cancelled.

With guidance, monitoring and consultation it may have been possible for the Olimpicks to continue, in a revised manner in order to continue the tradition, (albeit in an altered fashion).
