As we prepare to enjoy the festivities, a quick reminder about Anaphylaxis, the triggers and how a casualty should be managed if they are experiencing this type of allergic reaction.
Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. Symptoms can begin only seconds after someone comes into contact with their trigger, and often progress rapidly.
However, on some rare occasions, the onset of the reaction can be delayed.
There are many major allergens, although this is not a complete list of what can cause Anaphylaxis; eggs, peanuts, latex, bee stings, milk, kiwi, fish…
Treatment needs to be swift and an ambulance called whenever this reaction presents. For more information visit: https://www.anaphylaxis.org.uk/
